General Information[]
Mia and Me is a German TV series created by Gerhard Hahn. It incorporates both live action and CGI animation. The show is about a girl named Mia, who uses her magic book and bracelet to transport to a storybook world of elves and unicorns. In America, Mia and Me started airing on Nick Jr. in 2014.
Since 2016, Mia and Me has been entirely owned by M4E AG. The M4E company has made a fourth season, according to Kidscreen's article.
Premise[]
- The story begins when a 12-year-old girl named Mia goes to a prestigious boarding school in Florence, Italy as an exchange student. Her parents died recently in an accident. Her father was a successful game maker. Mia's aunt gives Mia a game that her father made before he died. The game is in the form of large book called "The Legend of Centopia" (a book he read to her when she was younger) which is full of mystical rune writing that gives Mia the latest password (that has to be read backwards) that allows her to go to the magical world of Centopia. The land is full of winged elves, pans (goat-like creatures), unicorns, dragons (who do not breathe fire) and much more. Perhaps the strangest creature there is Polytheus ,a snake like being with snake hair like a Gordon. He is a trader, strictly in it for the money (though what good money is on such a world is debatable) but has done the Elves some good turns without reward, such as when he fixes their waterdome, saving them from a munc attack (Episode 23).
- While in Centopia, Mia is a beautiful, winged, fairy-like, elf girl. Mia is very special because she can talk to unicorns. No one else in Centopia has that ability. She meets a unicorn named Lyria and later, her winged son (born in ' The Golden Son ' ), Onchao. She befriends Yuko (a girl warrior), Prince Mo (son of King Raynor and Queen Mayla), and Phuddle (a pan and the comic relief, though more often annoying than funny). In Season 1, with the help of oracles form the magic book, they must find all the trumptus pieces, a magic horn made by Phuddle. It was captured, broken apart and, in twenty pieces, scattered by the munculus on orders of Quenn Panthea (Episode 4) as it is the one thing that can destroy the evil beings. Water from the elves waterglares shrinks munculus (a.k.a. muncs) but it is only a temporary effect.
- They also have to stop the evil Quenn Panthea,General Gargona and her munculus army (who ride on blue dragons and fire non venomous snakes which encircle and trap their victims) from capturing the unicorns. Panthea needs their horns as without them she becomes (even more) old and ugly (her face is always hidden by mask)). But the horns are linked to the unicorn shaped island of Centopia so every time she takes and destroys a unicorn horn, more of the island dies and vegetation and trees become desert. The 'golden unicorn' Onchao is the only unicorn with wings. He can make the desert bloom again (the other unicorns can do this but less easily) and later, restore horns to unicorns who have had them cut off by Panthea. There are also four unicorns with elemental powers (earth, air, fire and water) who mostly stay out of the affairs of others but join in the final battle.
- In Episode 9 the elves make friends with baby dragon (Baby Blue) which quickly grows up and as a full sized dragon, helps them a few times. Episode 22 is the only episode in this season that takes place at night. Mia has a wrist amulet that when charged allows her to go to Centopia and when the battery runs down, she returns to Earth till it recharges tself again (we see the recharger in Episode 25.).Though she may spend many hours in Centopia, only a few minutes pass on Earth. At her school, we see cartoon effects around her and characters there, as in question marks when they are puzzled, flowers, comic characters, etc. Vincent is her friend there and learns about her ability to travel to Centopia. The stuck-up and nasty Violetta is against her. Paula starts off as a friend of Violetta but over time comes to realize how nasty and shallow Violetta is and joins Mia. She learns about Centopia in the final two-part episodes (Episode 25 and 26).
- The evil ones are finally defeated (the trumptus blast turns them into flowers) with only Gargona surviving in ep 26. It is in the final pages of the book and Mia goes back to her world where it is the end of the school year, and she says she will see her friends in a few months after the summer break. According to the Panda TV site, the artwork for the land of Centopia is based on the art of Gustav Klimt. This is particularly noticeable in the robes worn by the King and Queen as well as Mo's shirt. Also Gargona is heavily influenced by Hygieia in the ceiling paintings of the University of Vienna.
Season Two[]
- In the second season, Mia spends her summer holiday at grandpa Renzo's farm after saying goodbye to Vincent and Paula. There she also meets Mario who later learns about her ability to travel to Centopia. In this season there is a new antagonist named Rixel who wants to catch Onchao. Mia's bully Violetta ends up discovering Mia's secret during the second half of season 2 in "My Name is Varia", after finding a slice of Mia's Pebble bracelet which allows her to transform into an elf whenever Mia travels to Centopia. While in Centopia, Violetta pretends to be an elf named Varia to hide her true identity from Mia. As Varia, Violetta becomes one of Mia's allies joining Mia and her friends on their adventures, though is reluctant to tell them her true identity. As a result, Violetta begins to be shown in a more sympathetic light, as her connections with her father are disrupted by her mother Countess Di Nola. In the end, Violetta takes over her antagonistic role in the real world as her mother (the Countess) begins eyeing Grandpa Renzo's farm to expand the Di Nola Family estate and interferes with her daughter Violetta's relationship with her father, Victorio.
Season Three[]
Characters[]
This is a list of notable characters in Mia and Me. The show has two settings: the live-action world of Earth, and the magical animated world of Centopia. Each setting has its own group of characters. Some characters from Earth travel to Centopia (Mia, Violetta, and Sara).
Real world[]
Kids[]
There are six main live-action characters: Mia, Vincent, Paula, Violetta, Mario, and Sara. All six of them find out about Centopia. These six characters are also the only ones from the real world who discover Centopia.
- Mia is the heroine of the series, an awkward girl who loves animals. She feels a special emotional connection to animals, especially horses. She has two magical items, a book and a bracelet, which can transport her to the elf land of Centopia. In Centopia, she is the only elf who can talk to unicorns.
- Vincent is Mia's best friend. He is very smart and resourceful, and he likes to build and fix things. He knows a lot about runes, and he teaches Mia how to read the runes in the Centopia book. He is the first person other than Mia to find out about Centopia. He has a secret shack where he and Mia like to hide out.
- Paula is Mia's roommate at the boarding school. She is a fun-loving and energetic person who loves to talk but can be a bit self-conscious. At first, Paula felt like she didn't fit in at school, so she tried to follow the popular clique and helped them with their nasty pranks. Eventually, Paula befriended Mia and Vincent instead.
- Violetta is Mia's bully. She is a snobbish, self-centered girl who is always trying to ruin Mia's fun. For most of the first two seasons, Violetta is the villain of the live-action segments. In season two, she journeys to Centopia after finding a piece of Mia's bracelet. She redeems herself and becomes Mia's friend.
- Mario is a young farmhand who works for Mia's grandpa Renzo. He debuts in season two. Like Mia, he cares deeply for all kinds of animals and does not mind doing dirty chores. Mario rides a motorized bike that he and Mia use to travel around Italy.
- Sara is a blind girl who shares Mia's love of horses. She debuts in season three, where Sara and her mother let Mia live with them. She has a horse named Pepino. Eventually, Sara travels to Centopia, where she becomes an elf with acute vision.
Adults[]
- Annie is Mia's aunt who organizes Mia's school situation. In the first episode, she gives Mia the book of Centopia that Mia's parents left for her.
- Renzo is Mia's grandfather who owns a farm. He is a great cook and takes care of many different farm animals. He is very supportive of Mia's horseback riding, but he sometimes worries about her safety.
- Contessa di Nola is Violetta's mother. She is a rich and selfish countess who mistreats Violetta. She hates Mia and Renzo, and she wants to take Renzo's farm away from him.
- Vittorio di Nola is Violetta's kind and caring father. He is divorced from the Contessa. Unlike his ex-wife, he cares deeply for Violetta, and he is friends with Mia and Mario.
- Franca is Mario's grandmother. She and Renzo have romantic feelings for each other.
- Silvio Frascati is a police officer who is a close family friend of Renzo and Mia.
- Luciana is Sara's mother. She looks after Sara and Mia in the third season.

- Mo is an elf prince who is the son of Centopia's rulers. He is Mia and Yuko's friend. He is a brave fighter, somewhat shy, kind, and proud. Many elves in Centopia are in love with him, and he sometimes brags about it.
- King Raynor and Queen Mayla are the benevolent leaders of Centopia. They are Mo's parents.
- Simo is a lone elf who lives in the forest and debuts in the second season. He becomes friends with Yuko, Mia and Mo, and the latter is very jealous of him, particularly due to his friendship with Yuko.
- Xolana, Shiva and Lasita are a trio of female elves who debut in the second season. They all have crushes on Mo and try to impress him. Xolana acts as the leader of the group.
- Tessandra is Simo's wise mother who is knowledgeable about potions.
Unicorns[]
- Onchao is a white winged unicorn (alicorn). Thanks to his golden horn, he can bring plants back to life and find the pieces of the Trumptus. He is part of Mia's team in Centopia.
- Lyria is Onchao's mother and the first unicorn met by Mia. She is the queen of unicorns and is white with a pink mane. She is kind, wise and courageous, and she sacrificed herself to save her son.
- Ono is the king of unicorns and husband of Lyria, as well as father of Onchao and Kyara. Before losing all of his traces in a battle against the Munculus of Panthea, he divided his crown into four rings so that Panthea could not find them. In the second season, he is found trapped in the ice and is saved by the elves.
- Kyara is Onchao's younger sister, another winged unicorn who is born in season three. She is just learning to fly.
- The Elemental Unicorns are unicorns who represent elements and forces. They are great and powerful guardians of the elven world.
Creatures[]
- Phuddle is a very talkative little pan who is a bumbling inventor. Unlike his peers, he does not know how to play, and he was banned from the Pan Village for this reason. Thanks to his Trumptus, Mia, Yuko and Mo manage to defeat Panthea and the Munculus for good, bringing new hope to Centopia.
- Polytheus is a traveling merchant who is a gorgon. He is somewhat devious and untrustworthy, but his deals are always fair. He sides with both the heroes and the villains at various points.
- Baby Blue is a blue-scaled dragon who is friendly to the elves and Onchao. Onchao helps him learn to fly when he is a baby.

- Dax is the main villain of season three. He is a bug man who is an experienced and well-trained warrior. He is sent by Lord Drakon to finally capture a winged unicorn.
- Lord Drakon is the boss of Rixel, Gargona, and Dax, who is the show's overall main antagonist. He is the king of Dystopia.
